Healthy Life Essex Newsletter - October 2008
Hi Everyone
As always, we have added several new articles to www.HealthyLifeEssex.co.uk. Links to these are shown below. Don’t forget though, there is lots of other information continually added to the main web site, including our various events sections and the news blog. It’s always worth keeping an eye on these.
Hopefully you have found the Wildlife / Countryside Events useful over the summer holidays. The events continue right through the autumn and winter, so do wrap up warm and continue to enjoy the countryside. The rustle of fallen leaves and the vibrant autumnal reds, golds and russets of the Essex countryside never fail to inspire me.
If you enjoy the countryside, you will no doubt be pleased to know that we shall soon be adding a selection of Essex Walks. It is actually just an excuse for us – we need to ‘review’ the walks for our readers don’t we?
Emotional wellbeing, recycling and fundraising for charities are all aspects we cover in Healthy Life. A rather special bit of de-cluttering could provide all three elements – plus a chance to appear on BBC1. Sound interesting? Find out more about the project here.
The following are brief introductions to the new articles added, sorted in to areas of interest. Some areas do overlap, so don’t be surprised if the same article appears more than once. .

Solar energy and Solar Panels by Fiona Roy of Solar Power (GB) Ltd.
Energy prices soar and we are told the National Grid may switch off power some evenings – so it would certainly make sense to consider solar heating if possible. Real Nappies by Jo Caird of Natural Nappies.
The volume of disposable nappies going into landfill is quite staggering. Studies estimate that disposable nappies take at least 200 years to decompose. Using natural nappies not only has a beneficial impact on the environment, it can also significantly reduce your costs – especially if you live in the borough of Southend-on-Sea.
