Southend Older People’s Assembly

The Southend Older People’s Assembly is dedicated to improving and maintaining the well being of senior residents in the local area, by working closely with local organisations. An independent platform, the O.P.A. provides a voice for everyone in the community about issues important to them. Recent debates have focused on irresponsible parking, closures of local markets, public seating in the town and the very successful victory of changing the times when bus passes can be used.

Meetings take place every two months in the Civic Centre and, with a growing membership, the Assembly has become a robust arena for the town. So if you are interested in making your voice heard, come along to this display and find out how you can get involved!

Refreshments being sold in aid of Farleigh Hospice.

Anne Dowman from Waterside Therapies has been spending the last 6 months raising funds for her sponsorship to trek the Great Wall of China. she is on the home run now, not far to go. Her next fund raising event takes place at the weekend at Marsh Farm Country Park.

The farm trail will be closed but the gift shop will be open. The management of the tea room have very kindly allowed her to use their facilities to supply refreshments (drinks and home made cakes - while they last)! All the profits will go towards her fundraising for Farleigh Hospice so please pop in if you are able.
