Tamiflu and the possible life threatening interaction with Warfarin
Categories: Health and wellbeing
Concerns continue to rise about the the swine flu helpline and the amount of Tamiflu which is made available to people just by answering questions via a call centre helpline - staffed by people with no medical training!
It is thought that Tamiflu may interact with Warfarin, which is taken by 600,000 people in the UK, possibly causing uncontrolled bleeding which could lead to strokes. This is being carefully monitored by the MHRA (Medicines Healthycare Products Regulatory Authority)
In total, the MHRA have received 418 reported cases of adverse reactions including two suspected deaths. Parents have already been advised by scientists that the risks of children taking Tamiflu far outweigh the benefits: Tamiflu has been shown to cause side effects such as nausea and nightmares in a high percentage of children.
